Lots of yellow and blue flying around today.
I'm linking up to Sunday Sketches and posting some pages from my sketchbook that I've been working on this sunny, spring weekend. The weather has been gorgeous here on our long island.
Moleskine sketchbook/Dr.PhMartin's watercolor/Micron pens/Sakura white gel pen |
I had alot of trouble painting this. I thought it had to do with the paints but I think it was more so the paper in this sketch book! I love the size of this book but I'm finding I not thrilled with the paper in this Moleskine:/ I was going to going to give up on this page but kept at it. I just find it didn't allow me to layer the paint well at all. I'm going to go back to WinsorandNewton paint, it works better in this sketchbook.
Blue/yellow is such a great combo! |
I painted this other page, above, and same deal, but I still like the outcome. The page with the flowers, on the left page, was better because I just drew with the paintbrush, rather than layer colors.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday
and enjoys every bit of this weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.
I really appreciate the visits and comments, alot!
Take care,

Wow, I love the forsythia and daffodil painting! It looks amazing! The fragility of the forsythia is wonderful!
Have a nice sunday!

Nice colors! I like your sense of design and line work. Yes, paper makes all the difference in the world with watercolors.
I love looking at peoples sketch books. These are very nice and I love the mix with the soft pattern.
Funny, i was just telling my bf, I need to get me a small portable moleskein for sketching.
Really lovely.
Love the spring sketch...beautiful. Paper makes all the difference.. :)
Absolutely love the first painting! Wonderful use of colors and shapes, makes me think of a warm summer day!

Oh my - just in a sketch book - wow Beautiful.
I have found I really like Daniel Smith Watercolour Paints. I found them wintering in Arizona. Great colours, and apply well.
I need to get more now that I am back home in Canada.
I love your colours - the yellow in particular - which yellow did you use?
Blessings,

Happy Paper Saturdays! Wonderful vibrant colours just what I like :)

I have trouble with the paper in the water colour moleskin as well... it only likes certain paints and you can't layer colour... kind of frustrating so it is my least used sketchbook... having said all that if you hadn't said you had had trouble I never would have picked that you had!!!
This is so pretty
Good for you for sticking with it and not giving up--I think the results are well worth the effort. Both sketches are beautiful!
These sketches/paintings are absolutely beautiful. I LOVE the blue/yellow combination. And I'm in love with your daffodil. :)
Blue and yellow is a great combination and you've showed it off beautifully.
I love your daffodils. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about different paints, papers, etc. I've been playing a bit with watercolor and am still looking for the right sketchbook.
I'm sorry the paper was a pain but your persistence most certainly paid off! Such gorgeous pieces. Oh, so springy!!
Fran! Your sketchbook paintings where you are just playing and experimanting are better than some of my serious ones....haha!
Always love them!
Love this. Loved it on instagram and I love it here!
