Glue It Tuesday - mini books

hello! Here's what I got for Glue It Tuesday: not my typical collage but a project involving glue nonetheless! I have been working on a some little books and there is a fair amount of glue used, particularly on the smaller purple book.
I got excellent instruction from Esther K Smith's 'How To Make Books'Here is the booklet I made below.
I put together about 4 of those/signatures together and then glued them all back to back. Then I glued the front and back of that little booklet I made to the purple paper.

I stitched the other book together rather than glueing it all [I just used a tiny bit of glue on the cording but I still "GluedIt!"] I sewed the signatures to the 'spine' which I created by folding the green paper. I added the beads and that is the first time I tried that. I can see how you can get carried away with embelishing the stitching! I had such a good time making these.

I was able to get a bit of drawing done the past few days. Mostly working with my markers these days. Time is not allowing me watercolors right now, but soon!

I hope everyone has a great day today:)
Lots of SUN & SMILES
Take care,

Yello!

Lots of yellow and blue flying around today.
I'm linking up to Sunday Sketches and posting some pages from my sketchbook that I've been working on this sunny, spring weekend. The weather has been gorgeous here on our long island.

Moleskine sketchbook/Dr.PhMartin's watercolor/Micron pens/Sakura white gel pen
I had alot of trouble painting this. I thought it had to do with the paints but I think it was more so the paper in this sketch book! I love the size  of this book but I'm finding I not thrilled with the paper in this Moleskine:/ I was going to going to give up on this page but kept at it. I just find it didn't allow me to layer the paint well at all.  I'm going to go back to WinsorandNewton paint, it works better in this sketchbook.

Blue/yellow is such a great combo!
I painted this other page, above, and same deal, but I still like the outcome. The page with the flowers, on the left page, was better because I just drew with the paintbrush, rather than layer colors.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday
and enjoys every bit of this weekend.
Thanks for stopping by.
I really appreciate the visits and comments, alot!
Take care,
Fran T xo

Glue It Tuesday Jam Jar

That week went fast, boy!
Linking up with Artysville for Glue-It Tuesday once again.
This glue-it is a simple one, but such a favorite subject ;)

such sweet goodness

This week I was able to accomplish a good bit, particularly on the weekend. I created a page in my 'long lost' art journal.
BirdieGirl
I made this art journal almost two years ago and was adding to it slowly. However, it got put in a drawer and forgotten. Now it's 'found' and my goal is to complete the rest of the blank pages.

I was able to complete two felt hearts in hoops which I stitched/embroidered/sequined/beaded. Woohoo! So much fun!

A nice change up from painting/drawing...a little change is always good for the brain.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week!

Glue it Tuesday and Challenge Day 4/5

Linking up with Glue-It Tuesday today and posting this as well to the Creativity Challenge Day 5.

I took candy wrappers I saved from Easter and glued those down to make a collage then worked off of that. I used gesso, gouache, the wrappers, etc:

I'm also posting my journal page from Creativity Challenge Day 4 down below. I'm trying to post as often as I can this week.
My church bazaar find:)

Goodness gracious look at my watercolor box. Needs a good cleaning.

As always,  thanks for visiting and leaving comments!
Enjoy the rest of your week,
Fran T

Fabrics have arrived!

I'm really excited because yesterday the fabric
swatches I ordered from Spoonflower arrived.
My Spoonflower shop is now open!
The swatches are 8"x8" And it is so cool to see your work on fabric. Its a whole different thing than paper or canvas.
Speaking of fabric, I've been working with felt,
which I have put on the blog a few posts ago.
I made some cute pieces right before
Easter to give as gifts. The bunnies are my favorite.
I drew out the form for the white chocolate bunny but the chocolate bunny's shape I traced off of a box of candy my son received. It wasn't too hard to figure out the base to stand.
I sewed pennies in at the bottom to weigh them down a bit.
I did't have any dry beans.
We had a great time at Easter, as always.
The younges ones are getting big but they are still 'kid' enough,  young and playful enough to keep it fun. Not to mention that we're all a bunch of 12 year olds deep down. That helps.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Take care,
Fran T
