We were snowbound today (I'm putting it lightly). I would say we got about 4-5 inches, so enough to pretend:) I baked, painted, watched THREE movies and generally lolled about. I just got finished walking the dog and I have to say its so refreshing outside! I love the first 24 hours or so after snowfall. Its exquisitely pristine out there! Everything will go grey soon but for now it's perfection.
In Nov'09, we moved back to NY after living in Florida for 6 years. The weather there was glorious for the most part but I sure did miss the seasons the first few years down there. But I did eventually get used to it and so much so that if it dipped below 80 I was looking for a sweater. No kidding!
Having been back I must say that I really cherish the changes of the season and enjoy all the little things that come along with that. I totally enjoy how much my son loves the cold weather. I hope I never take the changes of the seasons for granted again. I guess once a northerner, always a northerner. At least for me, that is!
I started a meditation routine this week. I used to do it every evening for a year or so but that ended in Florida. I've decided I really need it and was going to stop procrastinating! I'm not making any fuss at all. That's what trips me up and keeps me stalling. 'Oh, I have to have this and I have to have that. I need a cushion, what if I get cold? I'll need a light blanket. I don't have a bell, where's my mat..' you get the idea, I could go on and on. So I just sat down on the sofa, put my hands on my knees and just meditated for 15 minutes. It was fantastic! I did it every morning and I have got to tell you that I am calmer. Not entirely , for sure but it has actually made me stop and consider two or three times through the week, related to my temper. That is a HUGE improvement and happened to take me by surprise. I am a complete and total seat-of- my- pants gal, particularly with my moods and feelings. So I am grateful for that today. Namaste ;)

Lovely!!! I just love this page. I'm a northerner, just the English kind, and obviously British weather is notoriously bad in winter but all it really is in the seasons changing but it leaves me wanting the reverse - I want Florida weather!!! I never quite understood the craze that there is for california either until I went over there, now I dream of it. Nice weather just makes me feel better, it just does, though I can't deny there is something beyond gorgeous about white pristine snow :) thanks for sharing, much love x
I really love your coffee and muffins page--so pretty! I know what you mean about the seasons--I lived without them for a while, and missed them (especially Autumn) a lot!
Thanks for your compliment! Jennibellie. I love California too! I think I'd take that weather over Florida's if had to pick :D
Hi Cat, thank you for your note:)) Yes autumn is my favorite. When we came back north is was fall and I would talk incessantly about the colors, leaves, etc. so much so I was told to put a lid on it. LOL!!
I grew up in Illinois but moved to California many years ago and I love not having to deal with winter. I like seeing snow and when I feel the need to enjoy it I can drive to the mountains for a day.
Your coffee and muffin page is great. I like the hearts on the cups.
Awesome journal page, Fran...so inviting and great colours.
I've been told by Americans that Brisbane reminds them of California. We don't get real season changes here at all. Basically, hot all year and then a couple of months of colder months. We lived for a time in Wyoming so I did get to experience snow. I loved the beauty of the white stuff but I was terrified to drive in it. lol
We must be on the same wavelength as I too want to get back into my daily meditations. I used to do it a couple of years ago and I really felt it made a difference.
Have a lovely evening,
Serena xo
As much as I struggle with this time of year I still need the shifts and changes that the seasons bring. Glad you're enjoying your renewed mediation practice--good for you. Enjoy your snow!
You know Janet that would be the ideal situation wouldn't it? There is some great snow in California. Going to it is alot better than getting it dumped on you!LOL!
Thanks for your comments and visit:))
Thanks Serena! Yes the driving can be tough, that was the hardest part for me getting used to the white stuff again.
I am glad to hear that about the meditation. Glad to know that you are considering it again - it so helpful for me!
Thanks Lorinda! The snow is still beautiful today but its supposed to rain tomorrow and temps in the 50s. That should get rid of it. Thanks for the encouraging words about meditating!
I'm not sure I treasure the seasonal changes as much as I ought never having known anything else...
It is harder to get to the pool when the temp drops :)
Procrastinating well takes practice and weather changes.
At least you don't have to go out to meditate :)
LOL, Then I am well practiced!
I am LOVING EVERYTHING ABOUT THESE!
Fantastic work!
Your coffee and muffins page, beautiful.
High- five gal... love your artwork :]
Thank you April !!! I lOvE your ATCs!!
Oh wow... :) I got here through Barbara's blog (I Need A View), and I could get lost here... :) I LOVE your artwork - I love your versatility, your colours, your line work! I'll definitely be back :)
& about meditation - yup ;) The trick is of course to just sit, like you did. Wonder when that day will greet me ;)
