A little more spring

My goodness, this snow is never ending! My son is loving all the days off, glad someone is happy;) I keep seeing daffodils and tulips in the stores so they keep me going, that's for sure. I feel stuck lately but I'm always up for drawing/painting a flower. I bought a little pot of daffodils and they are prime right now, however they'll be gone soon so I have to scope out my next victim, lol. I drew this last night and painted around the marker with gouache.
Zoomed out a little.
This has nothing to do with anything. I just saw ln Pinterest and thought it was cool!
Clever!
Have a good night and be well, Fran T/WeThree3

I put a leaf in my water every morning, along with a slice of lemon.
It's so delicious and refreshing.

We have petunias on the porch. I could not resist painting them in my art journal.

Glue It Tuesday Jam Jar

That week went fast, boy!
Linking up with Artysville for Glue-It Tuesday once again.
This glue-it is a simple one, but such a favorite subject ;)

such sweet goodness

This week I was able to accomplish a good bit, particularly on the weekend. I created a page in my 'long lost' art journal.
BirdieGirl
I made this art journal almost two years ago and was adding to it slowly. However, it got put in a drawer and forgotten. Now it's 'found' and my goal is to complete the rest of the blank pages.

I was able to complete two felt hearts in hoops which I stitched/embroidered/sequined/beaded. Woohoo! So much fun!

A nice change up from painting/drawing...a little change is always good for the brain.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week!

Glue it Tuesday on Sunday

I wanted to make my collage on Tuesday but just getting to it in the very early hours of this morning. Here is my contribution to Artysville's Glue-It Challenge. I'm also going to link up with Sunday Sketches to share what I have been working on this week (more below).

I love green, can you tell? :
I initially wanted to have the two pages flow together and
painted both the same color background,
but they are two distinct collages, to me, and that's perfect.

Green , though I love it so much, is a hard color to capture...

no matter how much I try to color correct the photos,
each image has it looking a different green:) I tried to tone down the photo
because in reality its not so garish.

Clean up is tough in the early morning hours.
Hell what am I saying?
Its tough no matter what time of day it is.

I couldn't find my glue sticks,
where they disappeared to, I have no idea.
So I mixed a little glue with water.

The book I used to collage in is from a journalling class I took a couple of years ago. Here is a look at some old pages, I think these are from Summer 2011:

We did alot of collaging in that class and I miss it! I'm on vacation starting Wednesday and I plan on getting together with a friend who loves to collage as well.

I also took a stab at creating some art using acrylics. I am very dedicated to watercolors and switching off always feels like sort of a big thing for me.

I keep buying these little canvases when I go to Blick and the last time I was there I had to literally say STOP.
And I promised not to buy more unless I do a damn painting. (I'm like to think that I am only a spendthrift when it comes to art supplies)... I went in without a plan so I wasn't expecting too much.
i had, had, HAD to cover that green blob LOL!!! haha.

I like how this turned out, this little piece (4"x4"), am pleased with how it looks. I'm glad I tried a little sgraffiti on the right side.

I started on another, larger (8"x 8") canvas board and primed it with some black  I'll work on that during my vacation too.

Thanks for reading through this far!
Have a lovely week!
Take care,
Fran T xo

Getting Lost on a Winter's Day

This past weekend I created the journal page [below]
in response to a prompt by Artsyville.
The prompt was to "Choose a language you know
nothing about. Look up the numbers
from 1-10. Find the words for
ART and LOVE.
Listen to a song. Observe how the letters
or characters flow. Wrap yourself in the unfamiliarity."

;

The idea for the blue design came from a post card that
I saw online which had a photograph of Slovak embroidery.
I tried to match it closely but then saw a cover
for a book dedicated to fireplace tile design (!)
and switched to copying that! Of course, I had to
look further into the folk art and there
were some fabulous books on art, crafts and
native costumes. The craftmanship is astounding!

The hearts were so much fun to do.
Drawing them is just getting me into
practice for Valentine's Day,
which will be here before we know it.
Why does it feel like time is absolutely flying by?
I've also got myself an new amaryllis after
I accidently killed the other one!

I left it in the direct sun light and it just killed the
poor thing. What a brown thumb I have. Anyway,
this new one is doing well in the corner of the
room and so I've been studying, drawing
and painting the lovely thing.

Have you got
any bulbs growing now?

Hope things are going well for everyone.
Take care and be well!

P.S. Remember to visit Artsyville to get those
"GET LOST" prompts:)

First week of January

It's an interesting week. I had off Monday and Tuesday and now back to work. I have been fortunate enough to be able to spend alot of time creating the past few days while I was off. I'd like to share what I'm up to here!

I love visiting a blog called Lucile's Kitchen . The other day I read a post related to pastry and bread. I just love how Lucille paints and I was inspired to paint some bread that my husband bought at a local deli. I just painted what was left of the loaf tonight:

From my art journal, 1-2-13. Some packaging labels and taking note of some awesome delicacies.
A fantastic Rumi quote/poem. I had so much fun creating this patchwork of paper, using the scraps from project below.

Here is a small photo collage of work that I did for a friend. She hasn't seen it yet however she doesn't follow my blog. She asks me every so often to make up custom business cards from old paintings that I would just get rid of or paint over. I didn't have to many this time so I made a few extra pages with just watercolor and random stamping. But overall it is fun to do, I don't have to do it too often and she gives me all the time I need to make them.
I hope a good week is had by all. Enjoy the year and all it holds for you. Thanks for stopping by and, always drop me a line I always love to get a hello!

Please go to Mary's blog and check out this easy going Link Up:

Take care and be well. Happy New Year!!!

2012 is almost over!

The end is near and another beginning is going to start. Really, tomorrow is just another day amongst days. However I like the rituals of keeping track and taking notice of time passing. I have been on and off the web lately just relaxing and taking it all in during these holidays. And I'm getting some artwork done:

A message for 2013, gouache

Heart on Fire

a page from my art journal

I'm doing other creative stuff along with my regular painting and drawing, like papercutting and origami.

Enjoy your holidays and the loved ones you keep them with :)
See you in 2013,

Sunday Sketches and AEDMs

I had such a nice week off. I did zero! It was fantastic..
I spent the whole time drawing, painting and working on Etsy stuff.
Today was spent mostly working on my shop. [ I'll post more about that tomorrow or Tuesday.]

Here are some art journal pages I created this week. This one below was my final AEDM for the month. The Gadget page was made on the 29th and my amaryllis page was created on the 30th:

I posted this one a while back but got a chance to finish it up with watercolors this week.

I also decided today that I'd update my banner on my shop. Here are some sketches I made this afternoon , so it's technically, my Sunday Sketch!

Then here is the cleaned up version below:(Blogger gets funny after you put in a couple of photos, it doesn't allow me to up size this art...oh well!)

I wanted to have a banner that was made with my own handlettering rather than a computer generated font. Mostly because I do so much of it. I'm happy with how it turned out but I'm sure I'll change it in the future.

I am still learning about working on  and keeping an Etsy shop.  I have to commend each and every person who maintains a presence there. It's such hard work! I knew it would be that is probably why I procrastinated so long... I am really trying to attack this and tried to upload as much as I can. I felt for a long time that I had to wait for the "right" time , blah, blah...but it's never the perfect time to do almost anything so who was I trying to fool? LOL I have alot more to do but I feel like I'm finally getting started. I have to learn how to make a treasury. I also have to remember to get active on that site at least once a day. I am open to any and all suggestions/comments:)

-----------------------------------------------
Speaking of Etsy sites....Please check out Cameron's blog, she is hosting a contest and giving away a  a 50% OFF Coupon Code to use on any ONE item in her shop
All you need to do is leave a comment:)
-----------------------------------------------

Please remember to stop by Blue Chair Diary's blog and have a look at all those participating in Sunday Sketches, I promise you you'll be glad you did!

Have a good week!
