Glue It Tuesday Jam Jar

That week went fast, boy!
Linking up with Artysville for Glue-It Tuesday once again.
This glue-it is a simple one, but such a favorite subject ;)

such sweet goodness

This week I was able to accomplish a good bit, particularly on the weekend. I created a page in my 'long lost' art journal.
BirdieGirl
I made this art journal almost two years ago and was adding to it slowly. However, it got put in a drawer and forgotten. Now it's 'found' and my goal is to complete the rest of the blank pages.

I was able to complete two felt hearts in hoops which I stitched/embroidered/sequined/beaded. Woohoo! So much fun!

A nice change up from painting/drawing...a little change is always good for the brain.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your week!

Posting here and there

hello! Happy Saturday to you. I'm busy with posting things to my shop, then twittering about it and eventually will FB as well. It's a process but a fun one at that. I've been painting. I sneaked this flower in right before it died, that ranunculus was hardy, lasted almost as long as the mum flower did in my bouquet. I took photos and worked off of that to get this:

I love the green in this flower, and I wanted to really emphasize that.
It is such a good color contrast against the pink petals on this flower head.

I added in the name as well,
I probably should include the Latin spelling as well, just thought of that!

Today I worked on finishing up some lettering I did with my Copic marker. I have just one, a 02, because I wanted to try it out as I usually use the Microns [which I just love]. I read this in a magazine and thought it would be fun to do:

Lastly I just wanted to share some more felt fun, last weekend I worked on the felt pieces below, AND my crafty neice worked on one too! Em's is the Dream pillow. She designed that and executed it so well! don't you think?

Take care and I will try to post again sooner this time!
Enjoy your weekend and remember to SPRING forward an hour tonight.
Be well,

Felt Fun

About a year ago, or more, Pat at Lost and Found mailed me a wonderful handmade sketchbook and a felt heart pin she made. I am so in love with this pin and its always wanted to make my own. This weekend I finally bought some felt and my mom and I worked together to figure how out to do this. Here is our work. My mom made the flower, and I made the circle piece. Barb is amazingly good at all crafts and gets it right on the first try! I needed another shot to get it right. I tried the bird later last night and am pleased with the results.

Mom's flower

First try for me:)

My second go at it!
Then after making the little thingies, I thought I would try embroidering a typical doodle I do... I have to say that, for me,painting is a whole lot easier than embroidering! I've got to hand it to those who stitch! It's definately a process!

I hope everyone had a very nice Valentine's Day!
Take care and will be back soon!
Linking up to Creative Every Day.
So that means I'm going to try to post more often.
Daily as a matter of fact.
Wish me some luck, for cryin' in a bucket.

Getting Lost on a Winter's Day

This past weekend I created the journal page [below]
in response to a prompt by Artsyville.
The prompt was to "Choose a language you know
nothing about. Look up the numbers
from 1-10. Find the words for
ART and LOVE.
Listen to a song. Observe how the letters
or characters flow. Wrap yourself in the unfamiliarity."

;

The idea for the blue design came from a post card that
I saw online which had a photograph of Slovak embroidery.
I tried to match it closely but then saw a cover
for a book dedicated to fireplace tile design (!)
and switched to copying that! Of course, I had to
look further into the folk art and there
were some fabulous books on art, crafts and
native costumes. The craftmanship is astounding!

The hearts were so much fun to do.
Drawing them is just getting me into
practice for Valentine's Day,
which will be here before we know it.
Why does it feel like time is absolutely flying by?
I've also got myself an new amaryllis after
I accidently killed the other one!

I left it in the direct sun light and it just killed the
poor thing. What a brown thumb I have. Anyway,
this new one is doing well in the corner of the
room and so I've been studying, drawing
and painting the lovely thing.

Have you got
any bulbs growing now?

Hope things are going well for everyone.
Take care and be well!

P.S. Remember to visit Artsyville to get those
"GET LOST" prompts:)
