A little more spring

My goodness, this snow is never ending! My son is loving all the days off, glad someone is happy;) I keep seeing daffodils and tulips in the stores so they keep me going, that's for sure. I feel stuck lately but I'm always up for drawing/painting a flower. I bought a little pot of daffodils and they are prime right now, however they'll be gone soon so I have to scope out my next victim, lol. I drew this last night and painted around the marker with gouache.
Zoomed out a little.
This has nothing to do with anything. I just saw ln Pinterest and thought it was cool!
Clever!
Have a good night and be well, Fran T/WeThree3

Six more weeks

Oh boy, I'm neglecting this blog so bad! I was laid off late last year and started a new position early January so I've been making art and just posting on Instagram. I just got this blogspot app so hopefully it will make posting much more easy! I'm off today so I thought I'd try this out and make a blog post today. I'll be surprised if I get any comments as I'm sure I've lost a lot of followers due to my neglect! But today is a new day! :))
I got a pot of daffodils at Trader Joes and thought I'd try this on a journal page.  Going across the fold seemed easier and I need to use more of my journal space! I noticed that many of books have blank left hand pages!
I like to use my phone's camera to check my values. It's a tool I use a lot! Gosh what did I do all those years ago?! LOL!
I painted in most of the page but it looked boring to me
So I added some more color throughout and around the edges, etc... this is what I ended up with-
I am pleased with this and tried not to overwork the paper around the pot. For me I'll go crazy with the shadows and creases and it'll take away from the simplicity of the flowers. And I really TRY not to overwork flowers. The paper in this journal is good quality drawing paper but def not watercolor paper so there aren't too many layers you can paint before the paper starts to degrade. Here are some other things I've been noodling around with, the past week or so. The weather is a recurring theme... LOL-

Have an awesome day! Hope it's warm where you are because it's coooold and windy here in NY!

Watercolor, gouache and Inktober

October is Inktober and its all over Instagram! I can't say I've fully participated but I've done a few things and I'm using the definition of ink pretty loosely....ball point pens, micron markers and the real stuff (to me), my Winsor&Newton colored inks. Here are few :

Then I have been using my watercolors and gouache. I realize I have so much to post because I haven't been blogging alot lately. I've just recently got the blogger app so I think that will help me to be more consistent. Below are some new watercolor paintings. I'm trying to stretch myself and create more abstract pieces, which I love, love, love doing, they just take alot of planning.

Today is Sunday, we don't have alot planned, just laying low today... It's going to be a busy week coming up. I hope everyone has a great day and lovely week!

Summer Break

Its been too long! I've been busy with our house move and all things summer! Thanks to Instagram I'm still staying connected virtually. My artwork has slowed down to a halt. Started the ICAD with a lot of gung-ho but my gung up and went.
I added some more in mid-July but that too went to the wayside.
I guess I'm doing what I need to do and that is my 9to5 job.

ICADs from early July:

This weekend looks ripe for some artwork though. The move is over, the tag sale is done, things are in their place for the most part...

The rest of the summer is just my day job and a week vacation thrown in, towards the end of August.
I am feeling the itch to make art again.
Woohoo! How is your summer going?
Hope all is well!

Day 5 + 6 More Quotes

My favorite thing to do - illustrate quotes/sayings:)
Here are some more for Days 5 + 6!

Day 5 was a quick one but fun to do.
I made another and put it on my frig.

This one for Day 6, below, was inspired by a
very cool photo I saw on instagram.
The photo was taken at place called
the Crystal Palace in California.
I would love to go there one day.
Heck I'd just love to get
back to California one day:)

I changed the woman a little bit.
This would be mostly about "line"
and I tried to create value by using different
ways to fill the space with pattern and
black and white. I think I'll get to
coloring it but wanted to
challenge myself to b/w.

Don't forget my little, tiny
Knock,knock joke contest;)

Rememeber, to find out more
click the index card below,
you'll be glad you did:)

Take care,
Fran T xo
