List it Tuesday - 6 days late

Well, Artysville left us to our own devices this past Tuesday. I tried to come up with something and had a hard time and was trying to be overly creative.. So I thought I'd just list what I like and keep near to me. Everyday items that I like, that is. I was posting the earlier images on Instagram then I ended up painting the piece. I am not sure if I should let it be now, I may go back and add some more color. But time will tell.

 My list is of things : 

• A crochet needle - its my newest hobby. I was taught to crochet by my grandmother and whenever I'm crocheting I think of her :)
• A Sharpie marker - I have a ton of colors and prefer blue and green. You never know when you need to permanently mark something!
• Super fine, cutting scissors. These CutterBees are amazing. I love 'em and have had them for a few years. I bought them in my scrapbooking days.
• A recent origami creation. I watched a YouTube video that shows how they are made. I just love holding it and can't believe that I made this little creation from two pieces of paper..
• My newest knife.
• 'votive' candles from the dollar store. I use these instead of lighting real candles. I get so nervous with a real flame. I'm forever forgetting to switch these off, that i shudder to think of me leaving a lit flame unattended.
• Earphones, for my Pandora stations.
• My ultimate and favorite, fav, fav,fav brush with the clear acrylic handle. I've had this for years and just can't live without;)
• A shot glass that my husband bought somewhere. I love it because I don't have to haul out all the little measuring cups and has all the different measurements on it.
• Last, but not least, my little 'prayer' book. I keep all sorts of great sayings and quotes in here that I come across. It has to be unique and GREAT to get into this book. I think I bought that in the city somewhere years ago. Its about 3"x2"

ICAD #? who's counting

I posted last night because I thought I had to go updstate today but it ended up I didn't have to ake the trip. So I'm having more time than I thought I would today. yay!

As for the ICAD, I have stopped keeping track. I'm so far behind its pointless...LOL. But I just love this challenge and can't stop:)

I wanted to try out a card that is related to another challeng and that would be Inspiration Avenue's teapot challenge. I am a HUGE coffee drinker but do drink tea occasionally. I like the idea of all the 'accessories' that involve tea, the pots, the spoons, the tea balls, the cozies, etc etc. I also like the different shapes of the pots and cups. And they are so fun to draw.

The index card I made shows pot and cup shapes  I saw on Pinterest.

Damn that Pinterest is like a vortex, its so hard to get out of there!

Thank goodness its cooler today but we've still managed to keep ourselves holed up today since we've been doing that for the past 4-5 days now, tomorrow I'll get myself out of the house:)

Weekend: ICAD and Sunday Sketch

 I was creating quite a bit today in order to catch up on my ICAD challenge, therefore I am also going to use my hydrangea cards below for Sunday sketch :)



White, wonderfully puffy hydrangea that I found on my walk.

I would say most of the index cards I have been doing I haven't been sketching out them out but this one I just had to. Midway through I was ready to tear it up and start something different because of all those teeny petals! LOL But I am glad I didn't and stuck it out.

It's hydrangea madness I tell you! I can't get enough of them. I particularly like this variety.

I have this purple lacecap cutting in a pink vase. I didn't think of it until after that I should have included the vase because it is so pretty. Its simple but a nice shape and pink colored glass. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow before the cutting fades. Hopefully it holds up til tomorrow evening.

We had a great time this weekend with my brother.

He was so great, took my son to the city on Friday and then today he took him to Old Timer's Day at Yankee Stadium. Wow, they had a great time and it was so much fun hearing all about it when went to pick him up at my parent's house.

 My brother was so happy as he was just hoping to catch a game while he was in NY but it turning out to be Old Time's Day was a happy surprise. Bonus, The Yanks beat the White Sox 8-6 !

Hope everyone has a terrific week and maybe taking some vacation days this week to coincide with the Fourth of July? I wish I had dreamed that up a while back but a colleague beat me to the punch so I'm covering for him this week :/  Oh well...any how another colleague on maternity leave returns tomorrow after being out for 2 months so I will happily turn her accounts back over to her tomorrow!

ICAD 16 and 17

Today was a good day. Father's Day was a success.

We took a ride out to see my Dad and got together with the whole family.

Pop was in a great mood and seemed to be enjoying himself.

ICAD #16

 I misplaced the last bit of white cards I had so I resorted to

 using these color versions.

The ICAD #16 was made with a black Sharpie pen.

Then I went over that with a white gel pen and later added

 touches with a very thin Micron pen.

ICAD #17

 I used a green card for 17 and just used my Microns. I have to say I like working on white though!

I was going to add color but decided against it.

 I hope everyone had a good weekend and I'm off to bed.

 My eyes keep closing and have to keep retyping to correct myself LOL

Skinny Markers

Lately I've been noticing that the fastest easiest way for

me to create is to just bring bring my trusty set of Microns

and colorful kit of Staedtler fineliners. No muss, no fuss,

no clean-up (yay!) I love, love, love my watercolors but

even as easy as that is, it's hard to fit in these past few

days. Here's what I've been up to:

tulip and daff that are all around us these past few weeks

I've got two of these in my kitchen, for good luck... hey, you never know:)

starting to pop up...we have this one and a white bush out front

from memory, this leaf could be completely wrong, lol

a blue work book i have on my desk = conference call art:)

There is also an awesome pack of Sharpies

in my drawer. I bring these out too sometimes

I like the thicker line but hate that smell.

If anyone could recommend another brand that is

similar that is less tox to my brain and

nose please let me know what you have found!

I hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend. 

Went up to the house in the country today and 

looking to the day we can sleep over. Its a

work in progress:) Now I am off to kick the kid off

the xBox and get myself to bed.
