ICAD update! June 4th thru 19th

I'm still hanging in there with the ICADs. Some days I want to give up but I'm trying to keep on going. It keeping me committed. Below are more ICADS dating from Jun4 to the 19th. I still have yesterdays and todays to do . I just was so busy with work that I wasn't able to make something yesterday but its Saturday so I take do both today.
I didn't follow the prompts so much early on but I started to pay more attention after the Beatles card (bottom right)
I really like the top left card. Well actually I like them all:)

Father's Day was stuck in there and that one was fun to do, particularly the watercolor background. I got a lot of good response on IG and FB for the Toy Camera card, it struck a chord with a lot of people. that was a surprise.

The orange flowers were tricky. I wanted to move away from my micron markers and try some india ink. The paper of the index card is a disaster to work with but I am going to keep trying. Maybe I need to gesso the card. not sure, I've got to test that out.

I hope you like having a look and I'm having a good time doing these. Making art everyday is the cure for a lot of things! Most importantly it get me out of my head.
Happy Saturday!

Its been awhile

Oh boy, its been a while... I've ignored my blog for sometime now. Life just gets in the way of things some times. I hope some people venture back and have a look maybe. It's spring again, almost summer actually. I'm painting flowers and trying to keep the sketchbooks filled.

I just painted the flowers, leaves and the shadows on the table. That way the focus would stay on the flowers.

this was a shot I took before I added any color
I painted this last Friday. Full color in my sketchbook.

The past few months I've been doing a lot of quotes. Most times they are quick and easy to do amidst the crazy pace of life sometimes. I'm posting a few and hope you like them.

I hope that I hear back from someone and I'm going to do my best to post more often.
Take care and I hope everyone had a good May and an even better June!
Be well,
Fran T

hello there

Oh boy, its been a while. I've been wrapped up with work for a number of weeks.

I've been relying on Instagram to stay connected mostly, so I've neglected my blog. To be completely honest, IG is so much easier to use :)  It's like the name says, instant. No uploading, tagging, linking, etc. But I'm going to try to keep this blog moving along:)

Like I said I'm crushed by my day job but trying my best to keep creative! And I just started AEDM for November this month

http://creativeeveryday.com/creativeeveryday/2013/11

and will be hashtag-ing that on IG and Facebook.

RECENT TRIP to NYC in October. Crawling around town with my brother and his crew, up from Florida! Oh the things you'll see....

Some work I've been up to, there's more on Instagram. Please click the link on the side bar to view:)

Take care and I'll be back soon! I promise:)

It's a Cakewalk!

This summer I was asked by a friend of mine to design
a logo as she begins her own communications firm.
I was really honored to have her ask me.
Deborah was brilliant to work with and
knew exactly what she wanted.
I enjoyed researching and creating the artwork.
Lastly, I am thrilled that she is pleased
with how it all turned out!

Here's a collage showing the front of the business card as well as images
of some fabulous items that were made especially for the launch party -
cookies with QR code, beer glasses and cupcakes with the Cakewalk logo!

I was also asked to create artwork to give as favors
to those attending the launch party.
The idea was to make small pieces of art.
And if anyone had a favorite quote, I illustrated theirs.
I can't tell you how much fun I had doing this!
I am not the most outgoing person at parties so this
was a super way to spark a conversation with other party-goers.
I created a collage of some of the pieces I made.
I didn't get a good shot of them all, and one or two
I completely forgot to photograph! (too much wine!)
However, below are most of them:

I got a kick out of some of the quotes that people came up with!
What a terrific experience this has all been.

I'll be back posting again soon. This has been a busy summer.
I'll be off this week on vacation and hoping to catch
up on visiting blogs and creating some artwork.
I've been working mostly in my little Moleskine books.

Thanks for stopping by and for visiting.
I love getting your comments :)
Thanks for leaving such lovely notes!
Take care, Fran T xo

AEDM DAY 2

Busy day today, lots of worked backed up since we've gotten back online.
But good thing its Friday :) I like having a one-day work week frankly.

Linocut

Watching the news just makes me so thankful that we were spared
from so much that the hurricane brought to others.

It still didn't keep me from getting frustrated with quite of few things today but makes me realize I have to just relax, some things are just not worth the stress and worry.

So I think my art for today speaks for itself.
Typically, I run on the seat of my pants [due to my ADD] but I was thinking of this all day. It didn't turn out exactly as I had planned but I'm happy with how it looks.

Well the utility company LIPA says that our power will be back up on November 7.

It looks like that will happen as everyones is coming back up slowly. We'll see...thank goodness for my generous parents!

See you tomorrow for another day of AEDM art. Have a great weekend!

I had alot of fun with this one

I just love this quote

I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the week. TGIT

Be good to yourself,

more cards:)

This is all I can dream up for the time being :)) Busy week is over now, maybe I can get to an abstract card soon or something involving acrylic paint. These quotes were a fun diversion during phone calls this week. I just keep the index card pad and markers on my desk.

The quality is a bit crappy because I was too busy to scan them tonight...its such a pain with the spiral wire and how they are bound.
Hey everybody have an awesome weekend!

AEDM Days 26 + 27 - INKYDINK

On Saturday, Day 26, I visited Michaels and purchased these W/N Inks. I had a 50% coupon so I had to get them ;) To hell, with Christmas shopping! I tried them out last night and continued on this morning, Day 27. I tried using a brush as well as my calligraphy pens. They aren't too forgiving so  typical method of 'winging it' isn't working out as well as it usually does. LOL!

My attempt at using the inks like watercolor. They dry super fast! No chance for fooling around and pushing colors..

George Eliot quote

I love this Buddha quote... I just found it recently
So this is the last day of the long weekend. We're going to run over to IKEA and then off to our friends' home to help them trim their tree. They are much organized than us. We're trying to remember where our tree is:) Last year we had a real one but this year I'm going to stick with our lovely artifical tree. It really is so lifelike and easy! Have a wonderful day and happy Day 27!

Creative Everyday CHALLENGES

I'm involved with two challenges now, one it Tracy Bunkers' and the other is Creative Everyday . So I'm doing my best with my full time job and being a mama... but I STRIVE to do something creative as often as I can! Will try to do this every day! Today I am working on getting things together for a small craft fair that I'm participating in next week in SeaCliff, NY. I am focusing on quotes that I love and it makes it fun and less stressful that trying to get full blown painting done. Frankly I like to sell stuff but its the actual painting and de-stressing that does it for me! It's my therapy for sure. These are some small frames that I got for a dollar at a tag sale that I'm upcycling:)
